How to Easily Create an Instagram Landing Page for Free

Instagram is a fast-growing social media platform that can drive significant traffic to your blog and generate its own income. However, this popular platform only allows you to include a single link to your blog in the bio. So how can you include multiple links to your blog posts? The answer is to create an Instagram landing page.

An Instagram landing page is a custom page on your blog. On this page, you can include content and links that you reference on Instagram. This makes it easy for your followers on Instagram to find the content you want them to find.

In this blog post, I am going to show you exactly how to create an effective Instagram landing page from start-to-finish for free. This will help your Instagram followers find your content, email list, and shop links fast and easy.

How to Easily Create an Instagram Landing Page for Free - Instagram is a rapidly growing social media platform that is great marketing medium for bloggers. One of the most challenging parts of marketing your blog on Instagram is that you only have one link in your bio. The great news is that you can turn that link into multiple Instagram links with an Instagram Landing Page. As you can imagine, including additional links for your Instagram audience can increase your blog’s pageviews, email subscribers, and revenue. Fortunately, the process of creating an Instagram landing page is fairly simple and uses only a few plugins and widgets.

The following are the WordPress plugins you will need to install for this specific tutorial:

You will also need to create any buttons for specific pages you wish to link to before you begin. Popular examples are a button for your contact form, product landing pages, etc. I use Canva for this purpose.

Before you continue, install and activate the plugins you wish to use. You will need them active before you can begin creating your landing page.

Note: I am not an affiliate of the above-mentioned plugins or Canva. These are the specific products I use in this tutorial. You can, however, use any page builder or extended widget for recent posts that you wish, but this tutorial may not help with other plugins.

Before You Begin: What to Include on Your Instagram Landing Page

What you include on your Instagram Landing Page is completely dependent upon your goals for Instagram. If you want to increase blog readers, include a list of your blog posts. If you want to increase sales of your digital products, include pictures, prices, and links to those products.

For bloggers, I recommend that you include your logo or header, a link to join your email list, your most recent blog posts, and a picture of you and a brief bio or link to your “About Me” page at the very minimum.

If you offer an online course, ebooks, or other digital products, include a button and link to the product you wish to promote. If you want to promote your services, include a button with a link to your “Services” page.

Write down a list of anything you would like to link to from within your Instagram landing page. Also, check out other Instagrammers in similar niches and fields and view their Instagram landing pages. Don’t steal their ideas, but definitely take away some ideas for your page’s content.

Step 1 – Create Your Instagram Landing Page

Using the dashboard menu on the left sidebar of WordPress, click “Pages,” then “Add New.” Enter a Title for your page, such as “Insta” or “Instagram” into the title field. Once you have entered your title, click on the blue “Edit with Elementor” button below the title field, as seen below.

Note: If Elementor does not load, you may need to update or install Java on your web browser. It also may take a minute for Elementor to load. This is normal, so be patient.

Elementor is a visual page builder, so as you add elements, you will be able to see how they will look on screen for your audience in a pane to the right of the control panel. This is a huge help, especially when designing a page from your PC or Mac that is intended for use on a mobile device.

When Elementor opens you will see the following screen:

Step 2 – Format Your Page for Mobile View

As you can see, you have a control panel for Elementor on your left. On the bottom of that control panel in grey are five light grey buttons and a green “Publish” button with a drop-down menu. Click on the fourth light grey image from the left. It’s the one that looks like a computer monitor.

This button allows you to change your responsive mode. You will now see the following screen.

Since most of your Instagram viewers will be using a mobile device, select the “Mobile” view. As seen below, your view in the right pane will have changed significantly. This will help you edit the page as it will appear on a mobile device.

Note: You may have to change back to this view after using some apps and settings.

Now, click on the first button at the bottom of the control panel that looks like a gear. This button is for your “Settings.” Now you will see the following screen.

Toward the bottom of the screen in the control panel, you will see a toggle switch that is greyed out and is labeled “Hide Title.” Click this switch to “Yes.” Then, from the drop-down menu “Page Layout,” select “Elementor Canvas.” If your view switches back to the default Responsive mode, simply change it back to mobile.

Now, as you can see, you are working with a blank space. This is ideal for any landing page and will allow you to use the entire space for your Instagram Landing Page without your blog’s other elements.

Step 3 – Add Buttons, Images and Text

Now that you have your page formatted and ready to edit, click on the 9 little squares in the top-right corner of the control panel. This will take you back to your widgets. To add content to your page, this is the screen to which you will need to return, so make note of it.

Add Your Branding Image

First, add your logo, banner or other branded media to the top of the page. This makes the page’s ownership clear from the beginning. This is important for visual branding and confirming to your audience that you own the page.

To do this, click and drag the “Image” widget into the empty area on the right visual pane. You will not edit the widget in this pane. To edit it, you will need to use the control panel to the left.

To add the image, click on the grey image box on the left and select the image from your Media or add a new image.

Now, in the control panel, click on the drop-down menu to the right of “Image Size” and select “Full.” This will fill the image in the allotted space and make the image responsive to the device on which it is viewed.

Once you have completed this step, click on the drop-down menu to the right of “Link to” and enter the URL of your blog or homepage. This will turn the image into a clickable link.

Now, you can return back to the widget screen by clicking on the nine squares in the top-right of the control panel.

Add Image Links and Text

If you wish to add buttons, create the button’s image in Canva and upload it to your media, then use the steps I covered above in the tutorial for inserting your branded images. The images and links should be different, but the process remains the same

Adding text is also pretty straight-forward. Simply click and drag the “Text” widget into the panel on the right in the position you wish the add the text. You will edit the text to your left in the control panel in a more familiar text editor.

Step 4 – Add Your Blog Posts

If you remember, at the beginning of this post, I advised you to install and activate the Recent Posts Widget Extended plugin. This plugin will automatically update and display your most recent posts. This is a major convenience and will keep your content up-to-date automatically. You’re welcome.

The widget is a little tricky, so I will walk you through it.

First, go back to the widget menu by clicking the nine squares and in the search bar above the widgets, search for the “Recent Posts” widget. The widget does not show up in the menu on the left for my blog, so I always have to do this.

Be sure to choose the “Recent Posts Extended” widget option from the menu to click and drag into the right pane. It will give you loads of options to customize your page. The standard “Recent Posts” widget is extremely limited, so if you don’t see these options in the control panel, you have the wrong widget.

By default, you will see a square thumbnail and your five most recent posts. If you are happy about this and the way they are displayed on the “Mobile” Responsive mode, you don’t have to go any farther.

If you want to change this, you can edit nearly everything aspect of the widget from the control panel. You can select specific post categories, change the number of posts, whether to display a thumbnail, how to display the thumbnail, add an excerpt from the post and even add or change the CSS in the box at the bottom of the control panel screen.

Play around with it. If you don’t like what you have done, simply delete the widget from the panel on the right and insert it again and start from scratch.

Step 5 – Publish and Preview

Once you are happy with your Instagram landing page, click the green “Publish” button at the bottom-right of your control panel. If you need to save your progress and take a break, but aren’t ready to publish, you can click the drop-down arrow to the right of the “Publish” and choose “Save Draft” instead.

Once you are finished, click on the three lines in the top-left corner of the control panel and choose “Exit to Dashboard” from the menu. You will not see any of the content from your page on your WordPress dashboard, so don’t worry. It’s still there.

Now, I highly recommend checking out the page on your own devices in an Incognito window on your web browser. This will allow you to view the page as your audience will see it.

To do this from Google Chrome, click on the three dots in the top-right corner of your web browser on mobile, your tablet, or PC and select “New Incognito Window.” Then enter the page’s permalink into the browser search bar.

Make adjustments via Elementor as you see fit and update your web browser until you are happy with the final product.

Step 6: Create a Subdomain and Redirection (optional)

If you want to avoid entering the pages “/index.php/instagram” in the link on your Instagram bio, you can make the link appear more clean and professional by creating a subdomain and redirecting the subdomain to your new landing page. To get started, copy the permalink of your new page. You will need it later.

My web hosting service, Hostgator makes this very easy from the cPanel. All I have to do is click on the “Subdomains” link from the cPanel for my blog.

Once I am on that page, I select my domain from the drop-down menu and enter the subdomain “insta” or “instagram” (your preference) into the box and click “Create.”

Once you have created the subdomain, you will receive the following “Success” message.

To redirect your subdomain, click on the green “Add another Subdomain” link. This will return you to your subdomain screen (you do not have to add another subdomain).

Now, scroll down past the form you used previously and locate your new subdomain and click on the “Manage Redirect” link to the right of the subdomain.

Once you are there, you will see the following screen.

Simply paste permalink into the redirect box. Once you have pasted the link, click “Save” and you will receive a Ridirection “Success” screen. Click on the link “Go Back” and scroll down to your subdomain in the list. You will now see the permalink listed.

It can take up to 24 hours for this to update on your blog, so don’t worry if it doesn’t happen immediately. Once it does, you will be able to type in the subdomain “insta.yoururl.com” in your browser (substitute your subdomain) and you will be able to view the new page you created.

Once you know it is working, it is ready to use for the link in your Instagram bio.

Step 7: Update Your Instagram Link

Now that you have the subdomain, update your profile on Instagram to include your subdomain (or if you elected to not create a subdomain, your permalink) as the link to your website.

Congrats! You now have a professional Instagram Landing Page for your blog. Not only will you be able to share multiple links, you can also collect emails and include links to your products or affiliates as well.

Just remember to keep it simple and not overwhelm your followers. The less they have to be distracted by, the better.
