How to Use Tailwind’s Hashtag Finder 2.0 to Grow Your Instagram

Tailwind is notoriously known for its awesome marketing tools for content creators. That’s why it only made sense for them to add a hashtag finder to their Instagram scheduler. Not only can you auto-post your Instagram, but you could also easily find hashtags for your post, saving you a step!

This is a huge time saver! It can also help you get your posts in front of a larger and more relevant audience. This is a huge advantage for Instagram marketers and influencers alike. However, Tailwind recently decided to take it a step farther and this week announced hashtag finder 2.0!

In this blog post, I will show you how hashtag finder 2.0 works and how you can use it to quickly and easily grow your Instagram account. As a bonus, I have also created a video tutorial. This is my first video, so I’m really excited to get your feedback on it!

Do you want to boost your Instagram marketing skills? A great way to do that is to use the right hashtags for your Instagram posts. Tailwind's new hashtag finder 2.0 makes it effortless to find the perfect hashtags for your Instagram posts. The new hashtag finder is intuitive, giving your more relevant hashtags with every post you create. #hashtags #instagram #instagrammarketing #instagramhashtags #hashtagfinder #hashtagfinder2.0 #tailwind #sponsoredpost

Hashtag Finder 2.0

About a month ago, I wrote the blog post, How to Use Hashtags to Skyrocket Your Instagram Following and told you a little about Tailwind’s Hashtag Finder tool. I loved the hashtag finder, but it did have its faults. I’m very happy to say that Tailwind has listened to our feedback!

They have greatly improved their hashtag finder with this update. It can help you take your Instagram account to a whole new level and save you valuable time. The new hashtag finder looks the same, but from the moment you begin typing your caption, you can tell it’s giving you more relevant hashtags. It is also more intuitive, learning from your content.

You can see exactly how it works in this video and I have also included written instructions in the post below. I highly encourage you to try out the updated tool for yourself here for free!

To get started, login to your Tailwind’s Instagram profile and click on Publisher, then click on “Draft” and upload the image you wish to post to Instagram using the on-screen prompts. For this post, I will already assume that you have set up your posting schedule and have connected Tailwind to your Instagram account.

Enter Your Caption

As you type your caption, the hashtag finder 2.0 tool will begin to populate suggested hashtags below your post.  As you type, you will notice that the hashtag finder is attempting to find out what your caption is about and will begin to suggest appropriate hashtags.

The more content in your caption, the more relevant your caption will be. However, if you have finished your caption and aren’t receiving relevant captions, you can manually enter two or three hashtags to help the hashtag finder 2.0 suggest more relevant hashtags.

Your Hashtag Suggestions

Hashtag finder 2.0 separates your hashtag suggestions into 4 color-coded categories. The “Niche” category is gray, the “Good” category is mint green, the “Best” category is green, and the “Competitive” category is orange.

Hashtag Density

If you hover your cursor over a hashtag, you will see that the hashtag finder 2.0 informs you how many posts on Instagram have this hashtag. This is known as hashtag density.

Hashtag density is important. It can determine if your Instagram post will be seen by many viewers, and if so, how long it will remain at the top of the feed for that hashtag.

(I demonstrated this with examples in my post, How to Use Hashtags to Skyrocket Your Instagram Following).

If there are too few posts for that hashtag to be effective, the hashtag will fall into the “Niche” category. This means that the hashtag isn’t as popular and will be seen by fewer people but will remain at the top of the feed longer.

“Competitive” hashtags are the exact opposite. These have too many posts and although more eyes will technically see your post, it will be quickly buried in the feed and people won’t engage with it.

Neither “Niche” nor “Competitive” tags are great for your Instagram post to receive engagement. The only exception is if you have a large, established following. If that is the case, viewers who comment in your feed will boost your posts. Then your post may appear in the “Popular” feed.

If you are new to Instagram, you want to avoid these categories because it is unlikely that your posts will be in the “Popular” feed.

Tags in the “Best” category ar the Instagram sweet spot for engagement. These are your premium hashtags for getting the best engagement for all Instagram marketers.

“Good” hashtags fall between “Best” and “Niche” as well as between “Best” and “Competitive” categories. These hashtags have more or fewer posts than the “Best” tags, but will still work well.

Know The Number of Hashtags At-A-Glance

An added bonus of using Tailwind to schedule Instagram posts is that you don’t have to count your hashtags. Instagram allows you to use 30 total hashtags in your post. As you can see in the picture below, Tailwind will do this for you automatically.

At the bottom-left of the caption box, above the “Suggested Hashtags,” you will see “#23/30.” This is telling me that I have used 23 of my 30 hashtags limit.

This is very useful because if you are like me and focus on hashtags, you end up having to count them repeatedly. There is nothing worse than miscounting and you can’t figure out why your post won’t publish. Tailwind’s counter prevents this.

Get More Suggestions

If you are unhappy with your suggested hashtags, all you have to do is click on the little “Shuffle” button in the top-right corner of your “Suggested Hashtags” box. This will refresh your list.

Here’s a quick tip for you. If you refresh more than once and don’t see any relevant hashtags that you like, you can manually enter one or two relevant hashtags and you will get better suggestions.

You can also choose relevant “Competitive” hashtags from the hashtag finder 2.0 suggestions and will receive better suggestions. If you don’t want to use the competitive tags, you can delete it later.

Save Your Hashtags for Later

Now, you may be thinking that you really like your hashtag list and you would like to use it in the future. Tailwind allows you to do exactly that. To create a hashtag list from your hashtags, select and copy the hashtags you wish to keep.

Once you have done this, click on the hashtag button in the bottom-right of the caption box, as seen below. You will now receive a pop-up box that displays any hashtag lists you have created or you will just see the box with the plus sign. If you are going to create a hashtag list, click on the plus sign.

Once you do, you will see the following screen. Now, all you have to do is name your list and paste your hashtags into the “Add Your Hashtags” box. You can click the “Copy” box to the right of “Add Your Hashtags” but it will copy the entire caption. I find it easier to just copy and paste.

Once you have entered your hashtags, click the green “Save Hashtag List” in the bottom-right. This will save your hashtag list for future use.

To use your list, simply click on the same hashtag button in the bottom-right of your caption box. Then click on the list and the list of your choosing and it will automatically be inserted into your post. You can also choose multiple hashtag lists, so long as you don’t go over the limit of 30 hashtags.

Now you can save loads of time sorting and choosing hashtags for your post. This tool makes it super easy to insert your favorite hashtags in 2 seconds!

Convenience and Performance

The new hashtag finder 2.0 will save you loads of time! It will also ensure that you are choosing the right hashtags for your posts. Add to that Tailwind’s amazing optimized schedule and you seriously can’t beat Tailwind for scheduling your Instagram posts.

Tailwind does offer a free 30-post trial that I highly recommend so that you can try it for yourself. You can click here to sign up now. You don’t need credit card information and will NOT be automatically charged when you reach your limit.

I truly love Tailwind! They always offer unique tools within their products that give their customers an advantage. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for the future of Instagram!
